LED Control Project

Accueil

I designed a little circuit to control up to 56 LEDs or LED segments individually. This circuit can also control two small stepper motors or three RC servo motors and an Infrared LED for camera remote control.

I used this circuit for the first time at the Dieppe Kite International festival in New-Brunswick, Canada. The circuit was installed on my Maxi-Dopero kite (see my kite page) with 56 white super bright LEDs for the night flight.

I used three AAA alkaline batteries to power the circuit and the LEDs. I programmed four different flashing patterns. The circuit was changing pattern every 2 minutes.

I'm still working on the firmware. Once I'm done, the LED flashing patterns could be programmed in a simple text file and downloaded through a RS-232 serial port from a computer.
Soon I will post some sample text files to control LEDs or motors. The motors can be used on a Kite aerial photography rig to move the camera and take pictures.
